Definitely world class. Monterey is a beautiful area in and of itself, but we always make it to the aquarium when we visit. You can go outside and see the natural tide pools, and the jellyfish are the most amazing. You can't imagine all the different shapes, sizes and colors that these come in. It's really an unbelievable experience. It is a little expensive, but I think you can get discount tickets on Costco's website.
Montery Blast This is one of the worlds greatest aquariums, and man do I agree! I've been here multiple times, it is really nice to go here once in a while and refresh your memory of the wonderful place. It is located right next the the shorline. You will need to find parking on a side street. The aquarium itself is wonderful. The huge collection of animals is so amazing. They have so many animals here that you don't usually see in an aquarium, the rarer ones. Definitly a place to take the kids and show them the beauty of th... read more
Best Ocean Aquarium They have just renovated the aquarium and it is even better than before. The jellyfish exhibit is amazing! And the Octopus!
Good for kids, but go off-season if possible The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a great place to teach kids about marine wildlife. The exhibits are top-notch, and the views are beautiful. My only gripe is the amount of people that crowd the aquarium during the summer weekends. It can get a little overwhelming during peak hours. If you can, visit when the crowds are less, and you aren't rushed through the exhibits.
An Underwater Adventure You Don't Have To Swim To Experience As a sea life enthusiast, I have frequented places such as Sea World, that house large numbers of sea life creatures. I was impressed however by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The price may seem a bit steep to some, but I assure you that the price is very much worth it. Local hotels in the area of the aquarium offer not only discount tickets, but also discount coupons to this wonderful aquarium. If you really want to learn about the under water world during your trip t... read more
Monterey Bay Aquarium This is a fantastic place to visit. There is never enough time to see everything completely. My highlights are the otter exhibit, the kelp forest exhibit, and the touching pools. I love looking at the jellyfish and the sand dollars. The gift shop has clothing, books, puppets and othe stuffed animals and a great selection of other gifts.
Beautiful! Gosh this aquarium is simply amazing. We took our two babies and even they had a good time. Make sure you stand in the little cove where the water washes over you. It is SO neat!
The best This is the aquarium to see. Right on Cannery Row, the Monterey Aquarium provides a view into all types of underwater life. Up until early 2004, they even displayed a White Shark, before releasing it back into the wild. Worth the drive from anywhere on the peninsula. (Check the weather and go when it's warm.)
Best Aquarium Around If you want to see sea creatures then the Monterey Bay Aquarium is where you should go. Unlike Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39 this one is full scale with 2 levels of exhibits. They have touch tanks downstairs and one upstairs. They have a special kids area too where kids can play with boats and get really wet.
