About this business

The "13 Coins" name is of Peruvian origin. The story goes that a poor young man loved and wished to marry a wealthy girl. Her father asked what he had to offer for his daughter's hand in marriage. The young man reached into his pocket. He had only 13 coins, but assured the father he could pledge undying love, care and concern. The father was so touched, he gave his daughter's hand and "13 Coins" has come to symbolize unyielding love, care and concern.

what a difference! – I don't think you'll find a better 24/7 offering within western Washington. My wife and I are 'regulars' at the Sea-Tac location and have always enjoyed taking at a seat at the chef's counter (1-6) for an amazing experience. The waitstaff are quick, fun and precise in delivering great service/food. The managers make sure they take care of any issue on the spot and the chefs prepare some amazing dishes (especially at 3:30 a.m.)! Where else can you munch on oysters and sip Opus One at that time of day?!

Impressive! – I have dined at many, many restuarants in Seattle and I have never has so much fun as I did at 13 Coins. My girlfriend and I went there after hearing the ads on KZOK and I must say it was terrific. I ordered the Crab Cakes for my appetizer and my girlfriend started with the prawn cocktail. Both were perfect. For our entrees I had Steak David and she had the salmon, both absolutely amazing. Be sure to ask for the big chairs in front of the chef's. Its a hoot!

Overrated and Terrible Service – I've dined at 13 Coins a couple of times, generally for late night dining. I have found the service to be consistently inattentative and rude. The prices are on the high side. Don't expect to be seated promptly if you go for late night dining. The food is mediocre at best. The parking is plentiful, though a bit sketchy. The atmosphere is great, and the booths are conducive to privacy and late night chats. Without question, this restaurant is one of the most overrated ones in Seattle - avoid i... read more

slow service, average food – Basically an upscale 24-hour diner with average food and mediocre (at best) service. We waited at least 15 minutes after being seated to get a menu or get our drink orders taken. Finally a waiter appeared with menus. The food was nothing special. Entrees ranged from about $13 to $45. Appetizers about $12 to $15. After the meal, the waiter pulled a "rush job" to get us out. For a place with so many high-priced menu items I would expect much, much better service.

Best Damn Restaurant Period – I have dined in every establishment in Seattle. Dollar for dollar you cannot beat the 13 Coins for service, quality and selection. Why they don't build one in every city nation wide is beyond me!

A bizarre dining experiance. – I like to go to 13 coins at midnight on thanksgiving. I like to sit in the high-backed romulan-style chairs at the counter and smoke cigarettes and drink wine and watch the cooks cook. I recommend the Steak Sinatra (always order dishes named for musicians). Almost everything on the menu is overpriced, but your only other choices for 24 hr dining downtown are Minnie's Cafe and The Hurricane. Very attentive excellent waitstaff.

Rude and SLOW!!! – Do you like standing around for ungrateful staff, then you will love the 13 Coins. Misguided by co-workers I took my wife there after a show, three other couples suffered along with us for over half an hour while waiting for hostess to finally decide the mostly empty booths could be occupied. Our server with an attitude came by after another 20 minutes handed us menus and then impatiently stood waiting to take our order. The food when it arrived was dropped by the same server, the re-done order showed up a... read more

Best of The West – I have been hearing Bob Rivers of KZOK raving about 13 Coins so I took my family there today for Father's Day. Bob...YOU DA MAN! We had a blast! Food was amazing and our server was the best. They even had this magician going around and my kids loved him. Sad to admit I have been living in Seattle all my life and had never gone to this icon. Those days are over! I'm now a regular. I had the special: Filet Mignon that was as good as I've tasted and my wife had the Halibut which she said was the best she's ev... read more

Good Food/Not cheap though! – Excellent food. But don't think your on your way to a Dennys. The food is tasty, high quality, and they offer an extensive menu. However, you're being served by nicely dressed, well-kept waiters, bread served with olive oil before meals etc. It's a classy/casual little place for all hours and all kinds of meals. Prices are on the higher side for late night dining for most, but all the food, selection and service are worth it.
