The "13 Coins" name is of Peruvian origin. The story goes that a poor young man loved and wished to marry a wealthy girl. Her father asked what he had to offer for his daughter's hand in marriage. The young man reached into his pocket. He had only 13 coins, but assured the father he could pledge undying love, care and concern. The father was so touched, he gave his daughter's hand and "13 Coins" has come to symbolize unyielding love, care and concern.

I'm an old timer who used to see this Resturant only about 2:10 AM. People were friendly and very helpful assisting my son and I with the menu. Ate at the counter like back in the day and explained how 13 Coins got its format from a famous San Jose Resturant but stepped it up a bit. Great place, excellent food and truly professional staff top to bottom!
We have enjoyed 13 Coins since our first visit in the 1980's! Our visit this past weekend included both great and not so great unfortunately. Our service was awesome...the servers were very friendly and professional. Last night our prime rib with broccoli and potatoes was disappointing as the prime rib was tough and the broccoli was as well.
