Look, moving is a stressful experience. And pretty much nothing online really helps give you peace of mind so I think here's what you do. Pick a company that has mostly good reviews for the city you are in (or on both ends). Pay for the additional insurance (the 60 cents per pound standard is not insurance). Ask as many questions as possible. Then pray that you get a good crew, cause that is all that is going to matter. And keep the crew happy by buying them lunch and keeping water on hand. Finally I got a chance to share my opinion – Everything seemed great until the moving day, when they told me that there were extra fees not contained in the original quote. I had told them I had two motorcycles, and once they arrived, they said the motorcycles have an extra fee (even though they were supposed to have been included in the quote). I can't believe I almost didn't hire movers! – I first have to say that I was very wary about hiring movers. I felt that moving companies were shady, that the guys doing the movers would be slackers and would probably break all my stuff. Fortunately none of my fears were true about ORI VAN LINES. Highly recommended! ... Ori Van Lines Rocks!! My only prior experience with a (larger, more established) moving company was less than positive. Those movers were in a hurry (as opposed to efficient) and I felt like they had no respect for my belongings and weren't treating them with any care. THEN, the move ended up costing me over twice their original quote, which the foreman of my crew said he could "give [me] a break on", if I paid them in cash with "a little extra for the guys". Overall, Great work – The short: These guys are the real deal. Their prices are very fair for the work they do. They are hard-working, pleasant and professional. Moving is not an easy or perfect proposition but these guys come as close as it gets to making moving feel good. The long: We dreaded our move to a new place in July 2008. We used Ori van lines for our move last weekend and they were great.Ori was our first choice. We needed to pick up from two locations and deliver to one, and Ori offered to go to our first location the night before, store everything overnight, then go to our second location and then our new apartment the next day. We were thrilled with this arrangement and it didn't cost any more. We had four movers. I was astounded by how easy our move was with Ori Van Lines. They showed up early, packed up whatever stray items we had laying around with no snide remarks or judgments about our total unpreparedness, taped up everything with quits at no charge, shrink wrapped our sofa for 10 bucks and they did this all faster than the sugar-hyped kids running around Chuck E Cheese. I would recommend ORI VAN LINRS to anyone – Over the phone I was given an estimate of 8hrs to move me from a 2 bedroom 3rd floor walk up to a 4th floor elevator building. I had some time constraints in the move that would have seriously been pushed if they had taken 8 hours or shown up late. However, they called to let me know they were on their way and showed up exactly when they were scheduled. They started off with 3 guys, but they added a 4th right after they started. The guys at ORI VAN LINES were simply Amazing!!! First of all, they were so enthusiastic about the whole moving experience. From our first contact with them they were completely professional, polite and helpful. Even excited about our move! We bonded over books while they literally ran up and down a flight of icy steps to load our stuff into the truck. It turned out that one of them had done the same MA program as us.
