I have had 3 surgeries with Dr. Marks after severe knee basketball injuries over the past 2 years. After my ACL reconstruction I was able to walk that day and was on pain killers for only 3 days. My recovery was months ahead of schedule suprising myself and my physiotherapists. That is a testament to the quality of job he did, especially considering my knee was injured irregularily. Dr. Mark seemed to have little time for me. He did not want to spend any time discussing my problem. He seemed to want to be someother place. After about 2 minutes he sent me for an exray of my shoulder. He then said I had arthritis, ( I probably did have some)that I should take some asprin and accept that I was getting old (55) I went to another Dr. I had a 3" tear in the sub scap. the long head of the biceps was almost torn off and was bleeding. Dr. Marks was by no means a great doctor for me. I had an acl construction which took over 2 years and another surgery to finally heal properly. He spoke to me extesively about Vince Carter (pro basketball player) who he cared for some time ago, but was not at all concerned with myself. He was overly casual and unconcerned with my issues and problems during surgery. I was bed ridden for 2 weeks after surgery with Dr. Marks. I'm surprised by the positive feedback on Marks' bedside manner; possibly I met him on an off day. Dr. Marks, during my scheduled appointment, had me follow him during his rounds through the ward while I tried to get answers on the surgery he was proposing. Without elaborating, he suggested that the surgery I had had so far "wasn't what he would have done". Repaired shoulder other surgeons said was unfixable. Went from 15% mobility to 95%. Good sense of humour and thinks I look like Harrison Fords double. Gotta like him for that.
