OK, it's a misnomer that Zahav ONLY got 4.5 out of 5 stars. That's an insult. I can't stop thinking about, or raving about, how good this place was. The basic rule I learned while at Culinary School, that I've always held as sacred is, technique with few exceptions, can be taught, spice interpretation and flavor profiling is an art form that is inherent and can't be taught, only marginally imbued. His skill is decidedly inherent. #zahavlove (kind of like Philly Love)

I had high expectations and was blown away by the variety of high quality, great tasting salads and sides. The crowning jewel was the lamb shank which fell off the bone into a delicious sweet and pungent sauce. Supurb! Service was meticulous with seamless plate and silver changes, continually filled water glasses, and regularly cleaned tables ( wood without cloths.) Bravo, Zahav!

If Zahav isn't a 5 star I don't know which resto is! 3rd time here and the food is consistently phenomenal with fantastic service! The rest of the menu is great as well. This is the best Israeli restaurant in the US and I can say that with extreme confidence as I recently dined at Shaya in New Orleans the James Beard winner for best new resta... read more

The service deserves 6 stars. Perfectly timed, warm, knowledgeable. The food was expertly prepared and served. The signature lamb shoulder, chick pea in pomegranate was a real highlight. But the cabbage hummus and wood oven baked lavash bread was perfect, as were the six small mezzes. Dessert were perfect, complex flavors blended beautifully. Did I mention the fried cauliflower and haloumi cheese in phyllo? Can't stop thinking about it.
