Had has aorta open heart surgery in October, my complaint is with house keeping. Medical staff is very caring. Has surgery on Monday, on Thursday evening while in the step down area trash in basket the restroom was flowing over, on Friday morning when my doctor released me the same trash basket was still flowing over with paper towels and the canvas receptable that dirty linens were put into was still there from Thursday evening. There was a fecal stain on the top blanket, if it was from me it would have been on the sheet th... read more

I am currently in the hospital at Yale. Went in for a procedure for which I was told that I needed to stay overnight. My surgery was booked well advance a month and a half ago. Today I was told there were no rooms for me. I asked why, they said sometimes patients from ER need to be admitted or other patients who were scheduled to go home same day from surgery end up staying. Um, why would that person get priority of a room rather than someone who was scheduled? I just don’t get it. Also, they had family members fill out shee... read more

There emergency room is horrific. They say wait time is 3 hours with only 12 people in the waiting room but after 5 hours they still have you waiting...and no there were no emergency patients to jump the line. If you have surgery the staff on the floor is a different story. They are on top of things and seemed to be very carrying. Yale please do something about your ER.

The doctors at New Haven are incredible! I live in Alabama but when I became ill with Covid-19 it was the doctors via telecommunication that were top notch! I had a misdiagnoses from,my in office Alabama doctor, which said I was negative! Upon contacting New Haven’s Telehlep line I was introduced to Dr. Sharon Otsfield-Johns wonderful doctor who listened and treated me properly! Not only did she confirm my positive test result, she kept me from infecting others! The nurses are outstanding as well!!! The kept in constant cont... read more

If a patient has a concern It’s overlooked. The doctors and nurses to do what they want regardless of what the patient is trying to advocate for himself. Poor communication with the family calls and never returned it’s bad enough you can’t get there and be able to see your child but you don’t even get a call back. And if the patient is slightly difficult they kind of take it out in their own smug kind of way. Not everyone but everyone who has had to treat my loved one and that’s very sad for the healthcare profession. Shame ... read more

Don’t waste your time bringing a family member to YNHH. They will not treat your family with care. I have a family member currently in the hospital going on over 13 hours with still not room. An IV needle is in their arm but not hooked up to any fluids. Barely had any food. You try to call to get an update and the staff lies to you. Due to Covid patients aren’t allowed visitors so they are neglecting patients.

Yale New Haven Hospital needs to create a safe space for it's minority workers who experience racism but cannot respond to it due to customer service policies.
