Unadulterated greed raises its ugly head yet again with respect to the Westfield company. Horton Plaza was a good place to shop and stroll until the parking fees stopped people from visiting it. Now, Westfield is trying its best to kill off the UTC in LaJolla. In an era of declining mall sales and diminishing retail revenue Westfield is finding a creative way to close another mall: Parking fees. I love the mall but will boycott now that they are planning to charge for parking. That is not the kind of place where I want to shop.
Charging for parking will kill this mall. Ask the store managers who already complain that sales have NOT increased since the renovation. This decision will drive away even more customers. Have fun watching your investment go down the drain.
If they indeed start charging for parking, I will think long and hard before I go up there. I guess that's why Amazon continues to thrive and retail continues to struggle. -- Less than foresighted decision-making. I visited today to make a return and could not think of any good reason to go back anytime soon.
If parking fees are implemented, I will shop elsewhere..The new parking structure is a nightmare.
