The staff and providers at the the Sault Sainte Marie clinic are great. The fact that the hospital itself is six hours away is a real pain. Having to deal with the VA "Choice" program, which can't even get a doctors name right is ridiculous. These programs keep getting worse.
The care at the Iron Mountain VA is good. The Drs. & Nurses take good care of us Veterans. The biggest concern is why they can not hire enough Drs to take care of the Veterans. And why the downsize of the medical floor and emergency unit. This VA covers and extremely large area and the patient load has increased . Hire more Drs. This Veterans choice program is a big joke .Oh yes we have urgent care ,but that is not the answer for a veteran arriving by ambulance. The VA does not accept ambulances. I have been on hold for 1 hr and a half,,never speaking to a human .....NOT acceptable in any business especially a health care facility...I video taped the last of my call but it will not let me post it...
Some parts of this are good but then as good things are going on bang something makes no sense. For example the eight year search for my medical records. But I understand based on a couple of issues. Finally got part of them, just hope it's enough. I apparently had a Tia. Subsequently mri and other testing. Then the headaches ramped up to where they were almost unbearable. I have never experienced any undo delays and have always been treated with respect.
It's always warm inviting clean an welcoming. Everyone is friendly and caring, always have a pleasurable visit
Can not say enough good things about the Oscar Johnson VA hospital. A wonderful caring compassionate staff. Keep up the good work and bless you all.
