I waited 9 1/2 hours in the emergency room. I got there at 545-6pm and left after 4am. It was horrible. They tried to give me a shot in my butt for a sickness that I had not been diagnosed with, just 'in case.' They made me feel so horrible and dirty. I left there feeling so low and pathetic. I will never go back there if I can help it.

VCU is great. 6 months ago I had a brain aneurysm, spent 10 days on the neuroscience ICU floor. My Dr and the nursing staff were amazing. They took excellent care of me. Today I went in for a follow up angiogram (outpatient) and everyone was still so nice.

Great hospital overall, but poor ER service. I waited 5 hours and still was not seen by the doctor. When I complained that my level of pain was above a 10, the "friendly" nurse told me I was more stable than others and would be seen as soon as they could me back. That was three hours before I decided to leave.

I was in the hospital over this past weekend and had the most amazing and caring nurses and doctors. They were so good to me and extremely attentive to every need. I am so thankful I went to VCU med!

I'm sure VCU is great hospital overall but we have to start examining who we are hiring as health care professionals cause you have a baby in the MICU on life support now from a common mistake that was made by the hospital and now Dr. Brain does not want to treat this child. It that how we care for babies.

I was there for a Procedure which Dr.Zachary,Gerth of Cardiology department was supposed to perform. I was told that if he is busy another doctor will do the procedure so that i don't have to wait. When I asked, Staff told me that just incase only. When the procedure took place, an MBBS doctor looked like a trainee did the procedure and did not bother to explain me whats happening.Dr. Zachary, Gerth was there watching this whole time from a distance. When I asked about not briefing then Mr.Gerth vaguely explained things. Ess... read more
