Don't Go! – One word for the place - RUDE! I went there once last year and got highlights - turned out to look like some sort of skunk. It cost $150 to get it corrected. I tried to get a walk-in appointment today, just for a haircut, thinking maybe my experience last time was a fluke. Oh no - I was given that once over look that made me feel about 2" tall, and told that they don't do "quickie" haircuts. I get that maybe I don't look like I fit in with the Belltown crowd, but you've just kissed my typical 30% tip goodbye.....
new at Vain - Lancer – After 34 years, I finally decided to have my hair cut and colored professionally. I went to Lancer on the recommendation of a friend and am now sending Everyone her way. I walked in not really knowing exactly what I wanted, or what to expect. I was absolutely thrilled with the results.
Carinn's your lady! – Carinn is an excellent listener, totally professional, and great to talk with. She found the perfect shades for my color, as I was going from blonde to vibrant brunette, matching the samples to my skin and coloring. And she gave me a quality cut that brought my curls back! Co-workers, friends, and strangers alike have complimented me on my hair. Carinn gave me some simple, low-maintenance styling tips and recommended the Pureology shampoo/cond. that I now love! The best I've found – I had my first visit to vain last weekend. At first I was allmost overwhelmed by the flurry of activity going on around me, but as i settled in (with the help of the friendly receptionists) I found vain to be a stimulating and creative environment. My stylist helped me pick out two colors of high-lites that he thought would best suit my needs for my work and busy social life. Caution... – I love the folks at Vain, but my last hair cut had me running from Vain and into another salon (where I was suddenly contimplating extensions). I hated bobs, said so, and liked my length of hair, just wanted to shorten it up an inch or two, create a different shape; the stylist pronouced that she *hated* my layers and began cutting. What do I get? A bob. And hair 4 inches shorter. The hair looked decent---for a bob--and was well cut. Regardless though, it was exactly what I DIDN'T WANT. And the product she used ... read more
sexy stylists, sexy hairdo's – not only do you get a fabulous haircut or color for a good price, but everyone that works there is sexeh!! lots of style flying around the place and a fun place to spend time (especially if you are getting a full foil, which, we all know can take hours)
FANTASTIC! – I've been going to VAIN for the 5 years I've lived in Seattle and I love everything about the place! Great people, great haircuts, wonderful art and incredibly unique DIY clothing and accessories. It's like family now. I will always go there.
People always ask me where I get my hair done... – I tell them "Vain on 1st! It's the best place in the Universe!" I consistently get amazing color, great cuts, and fantastic service from Vain. I think that's why I've been a client since they first opened (I've tried other places in the meantime, and they don't even come close). Still Missing Vain!! – It's 2005, I've been in LALA land for over three years now and I still haven't found a hairstylist I'm happy with. I'm tempted to fly Jenny Slay to LA just to do my hair!! I just moved into the West Hollywood area and found a guy that did a decent cut but then did such basic colour that I was dissappointed with the overall experience. I MISS VAIN! YOU NEED TO OPEN A SALON IN LA! Then have Victoria,Jenny and Shaun come and train these boring old stylists in LA.
