Everyone on the staff is caring, compassionate, and friendly. Good job.
People are late most of the time for their appointments due to the parking garage shuttle. We waited for 40 minutes for the shuttle. I have seen them sitting and chit chatting with one of the VA guards while people are waiting for the shuttle to bring them to the hospital. Either make the drivers do their job, or add more drivers. People are tired of always being late for appointments, and sometimes if you are late, you have to reschedule.
Went for a lung biopsy today that was approved 30 days ago and got there for my appointment and they refused to do it. The reason given was understandable but they should have never said they were going to do it. I live an hour and a half one way away and they called two days ago to confirm the appointment. WTF
The one emergency nurse. Was a complete jerk to me. Yes I'm not always the. Nicest patient but she extremely rude. And then the head. Er doctor. Said I had slight heart attack and the. Since. This morning. A new doctor came in my medical room saying. Labs and stuff say no heaRt attacks. Bull crap I know my body more than a doctor who fresh out med school.
I lived near Syracuse for several years and the VAMC Syracuse is by very far the very best. I had been to several other VA facilities prior, and the horror stories were very real. I live in Salt Lake City now. The VA here is deplorable. They have undone all Syracuse had in place for me, tried and true. I come away from there in tears. Mental health services deplorable here. Oh how I miss the Syracuse VA! Oh, and as a woman vet in SLC, we are third class citizens too.
I had a colonoscopy done yesterday. From the first consult to the actual procedure, I found the whole GI team top notch! Professional, courteous, with AWESOME bedside manners...Treated me with the utmost respect as a veteran. My prep team were veteran's from different branches of the military, but treated me as a fellow brother. My doctor who did the procedure was from a different hospital, but top notch also... The VA in Syracuse has being good to me everything I have being a patient. I'm have a On Q Pain Ball. What is that? It's where the inject steroid into my back, over a course of four-time days. The staff here are very good.
