On July 30th I had an appointment, which was a regular check-up. I mentioned even though I had an anterior placenta, I still could not feel her move. I was only 28 weeks along. My OB decided while I was there to have me get an ultrasound done just to make sure. They immediately had me go to the hospital and I was then transferred by ambulance to Iowa City. I am so grateful to live such a close distance to such an amazing children’s hospital. Our daughter has had much experience here. From direct admit, ER admit, office visit follow ups, OR procedures, out patient testing, and so much more! The kindness, support, and level of care our daughter is always given is amazing! I cannot even put into words how amazing this hospital has been to our family! Our daughter has been in the PICU for four months now and has received the most amazing care! Dr Ricci (pediatric heart surgon) and his whole team have put in countless hours to assure she is comfortable and taken care of. The child life group have so many activities for our other children which make it so they can stay occupied and not have to worry about the baby, the art therapist comes in to make sure I have things to keep me busy! My daughter had reconstructive skull surgery for Metopic Craniosynostosis at 5 months old, which included many other appointments and scan, etc. Every single staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make us and our baby as comfortable as possible during a very scary time♡
My beautiful daughter has a rare genetic disorder that effects less than 20,000 Americans in the US. We have the most amazing doctors at the UofI. I am so blessed to have such a great opportunity to have them as our care team!
