This iron age hill fort is sat on top of what is probably one of the highest points in Oxfordshire. The views from here, particularly on a clear day, are absolutely spectacular. Don't expect castle walls or ruins but do expect an impressive series of earthwork ramparts and defensive ditches. It is close by the White Horse monument, Dragon Hill and Wayland Smithy which all add to the ancient ambience of the area. A must visit is Uffington Castle an early Iron Age hillfort situated on White Horse Hill near the famous White Horse. a 3,000-year-old Bronze Age chalk geoglyph. A great area to walk, fabulous 360° views of the surrounding countryside and also if like me into Birdlife plenty of Red Kites to photograph. Plenty of parking nearby at the National Trust car park which i believe is also free to English Heritage members
