I applied for a listing for a rental on ****** ***** ** ** ******* **. I was subsequently put in contact with a person claiming to be the land owner, convinced of their identity, and subsequently SCAMMED out of the money for what I thought was my deposit. Turbo tenant DOES NOT adequately screen their listings, nor do they have an obvious way to report scams once the listing is taken down. USE THIS WEBSITE WITH THE UPMOST CAUTION.

Business response:

Hello Karly, Thank you for reaching out and reporting this property. We take these matters extremely seriously. We've flagged the account for review, and I've passed your comments along to our Security team. While they investigate, we've gone ahead and suspended the user's access to their account and removed the property from being listed. Please reach out to ***********************if you need any assistance in the future. Thank you, Jordan TurboTenant Customer Experience

Maybe it's "free" but it sucks. You have to be so overly cautious on turbo tenant because apparently they haven't figured out how to weed out all the scams!

Business response:

Hello Sherilyn, Thank you so much for providing feedback regarding properties listed through TurboTenant. We understand how important it is to feel secure about properties you find online. Please send any listings that you believe to be fraud to *********************** so we can investigate and take any necessary action. Thank you, Jordan TurboTenant Customer Experience

Applied for a place on 7/24/2021 paid $90 for myself and my girlfriend. Called landlord after I applied and she stated she does not like for people to apply through turbo tenant because she does not see any of that application fee money and would prefer for a person to come see place and apply directly through her and pay her. Sounds like some kind of scam to me. We are looking for a September 1st move in but she stated she is trying to rent unit sooner than that 7/25/2021 is the available date and if there is a application ... read more

I’m just starting out looking for a place that I need desperately and 4 people have tried to scam me already!!! This may be great for landlords but NOT for renters. I’m so upset because I found so many houses that were perfect for me and my dogs that turned out to be scams like asking for money, driving by the house, not talking over the phone, mailing me the keys. Completely unacceptable and it’s just as bad as ********** and I’m done with the website and will be warning others as I know about 20 people looking for a place ... read more

I submitted a picture of my drivers license, 3 months of paystubs and my debit card information to make a payment for an application fee. Then I called to speak to someone and it said “You’ve reached a text now subscriber”. I’ve since received two identical emails from two Different individuals with different names, requesting MORE information about me. The email did not use proper English and intended to buy time and allow my payment to process and draw more info from me. I checked BBB and reviews on their ** page to learn ... read more

I was told I could see the place July 1 and if I liked it move in July 5 .. On Monday June 21 I get a message/ text saying the place is not available to rent anymore ,I feel as though I was scammed out of my money.. They didn’t even have pictures of the bedrooms. However, we've sent the link to submit a refund request directly to your email address. Once you fill out that form, our accounting department will review it and you can expect a response in 3 - 10 business days. We apologize for any inconvenience this may caus... read more

I found a apartment I could actually afford and filled out the application. Per the instructions I paid my application fee of $45. I felt confident that this was a legit advertisement because I found the listing on **************. With that in mind I submitted my application fee and received a email from Turbo Tenant confirming my payment. I waited for a couple hours to hear from the whoever was advertising the property but heard nothing. I attempted to contact the number in the ad for the property and it just rings and ring... read more

TurboTenant is a website that allows scammers to use other people’s addresses to commit fraud. For 6 months, someone has repeatedly put our home address up on turbo tenant, which then gets fed into ******** ***********. For 6 months, strangers have been showing up at my house at all hours after setting up rental agreements with this scammer. TT tells us “we have a verification process but sometimes things just sneak through”. Wild how our address somehow keeps “sneaking through” their verification process everyone we all the... read more

Business response:

We take allegations of fraud, as well as your concern about personal safety seriously and have internal methods and teams dedicated to keeping our site safe. We’ve taken steps to ensure this property cannot be listed on our platform again.

I work for a non-profit assisting homeless families with housing and used this service to assist a client with applying for a unit after doing so the landlord reached out and stated they removed the listing and are not going to move forward with renting out the unit, when I contacted Turbotenant they directed me to their disclaimer about the funds not being refundable due to the work on their end? Really? You provided NO service to me and I did not even get the opportunity to apply for anything, in essence Turbotenant stole ... read more
