We had heard Kay Builders was a good builder and seemed to have a good reputation. Based on that we decided to build our first new home through them. We know people who have built their homes with Kay in the past and after speaking with them this is not the same Kay Builders we see today. I want to first say that we do love our home (an Athens model), the location and the community we live in, and would probably be thrilled if it weren't for several problem areas in our home that are a direct result of poor quality control. We've had several square yards of tile floor replaced by Kay Builders in our Foyer because the tiles were all cracking due to the luan board being anchored with far too few nails per square yard. My experience was poor. My bedroom ceiling would leak from time to time. 3 different contractors told me there was no counter flashing used when the house was built. I had to pay $800 to have flashing and Tyvek applied to the entire back of the house. I have only lived here 7 years but also had to pay $650 to have the chimney flashing replaced and also skylight flashing. 3 major leaks in 7 years is! Also the poor quality carpet and liner have all come loose and the carpet looks like ocean waves. I live alone so it didn't h... read more

WE HAD A VERY POOR EXPERIENCE WITH LAY BUILDERS. WE WERE NOT GIVEN PROPER GUIDANCE FROM THE BEGINNING AND THAT LED TO SEVERAL MISSED FIRST CHOICES.

When I first came to Trio Fields I put a deposit down on the lot that I had picked. I was never contacted to advise me that I needed to confirm this lot and when I called to check how things were going, I was told that they had returned my deposit check thinking I was not interested. I had to pick another lot and of course wait for another six units to be sold and in the meantime my house was up for sale.
