Overall my experience was good. I knew going in there would be two areas I would have to accept as not being done to great. They were the drywall and the yard. I was right. first the drywall the corner was coming undone in a lot of places after the first year. The nail pops were not to many. so after the fist yard these got fixed but some of the corner bead and nail pops have come back. The experience has not been great. On inspection of the house on completion day, it was clear that there had been a last minute rush to finish the job. Carpet was being laid on the afternoon before completion, there was no deadbolt lock on the front door, there was no sump pump installed and no brick patio had been installed. In addition, follow-up for construction problems that we became aware of after living in the house for some months was poor and/or inadequate to resolve the issues. Working with Kay builders has been a horrible experience. I consider my a very mild and reasonable person but this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Rick, the owner, is only concerned with closing and was extremely rude. They made several mistakes and their finishing is poor. Stay away from these guys.

This is our second home that we built with Kay. Our first was a town home in Laurel Field. We had a wonderful experience with that home. Our second and current home is a single in Trexler Field. We are extremely unhappy with the quality and craftsmanship put forth in the building of our forever home. It's clear and evident that there was no attention to detail whatsoever. In general, I am right in the middle with my review of the builder of my townhouse. The negatives: - lack of clean up after construction - waste bins & clogged sewers - lack of follow through / communication for common area development - poor management of repairs (one person managing many developments) - too many contractors doing small repairs - tough to schedule - poor finishing of homes (final touches rushed or missing) - 8x8 concrete "slab" for a patio? - missing street signs - minimal landscaping /appeal to en... read more

The house in general is ok. Problems are the incredible amount of movement in the walls and floors. I have 1/2" gaps from the bottom of the baseboard to the hardwood. It's only in certain areas on the one side of the home, it's like the one side of the home sunk. It's like that on the first floor as well as the 2nd floor. The back yard leveling is terrible. We are not as happy as we expected when we purchased our home from Kay 5 years ago. After living in our home for a year we submitted our request for various items to Be fixed throughout the property. We were told that our list was not received, and that at the moment we are out of the one year time period so none of the issues would be resolved (ie- nail pops, shifted moulding, etc).
