Friends of mine were having a private conversation, of which The Manager/Bartender kept eavesdropping on. The topic? A written paper on "Racism in America". The Bartender/Manager did not like them having such a conversation near him, and threatened them with eviction from the establishment if they did not shut up. No one should support such a business.

Tisane has always been a safe haven for people of every color, size, shape and orientation. They have always been accepting and have a fierce loyal following. This situation has been blown completely out of proportion. Anyone who has ever set foot in here should know that the staff in this instance was working for the best interests all of all of the guests involved. Before you write this place off, get all the facts. Tisane remains one of best bars in the area.
Rude staff that engage in racist policies.
Management not censoring conversations would be a notable improvement.
I'm black. I've patronized this business dozens of times with friends, alone, or just grabbing a drink while doing laundry next door. Saddened to hear that recently a black man was told to "shut up or get out" by a manager who didn't care for his conversation about race. The manager eavesdropped and decided that the conversation among two patrons was too uncomfortable for him. I'm now happy to know not to blindly spend my money in an establishment which dotes on being inclusive but obviously only to certain demographics.
Please do not patronize racist establishments. I do urge that you Go there to address issues of racism, but don't buy anything.
