The assistant manager, Brian, doesn’t dare let racism be discussed.
This is insane. Tisane is and always has been a come-one, come-all, come as you are establishment and everyone there is ALWAYS so welcoming. The smear campaign is disgusting and unwarranted. I hope people see through the fact that the majority of the negativity being spread are by those people that were not even involved, just jumping on a bandwagon. There are thousands of people who absolutely LOVE this place and let the haters talk, nothing is going to change because anyone that has been here knows that this negativity is ... read more
I really wish that Tisane management would address the issue of two patrons being told to stop their private conversation or leave. I can't believe that their ongoing silence on the matter will ultimately benefit them. Also, surrogates making false counter-claims is a dreadful idea.
Respond appropriately to racist bartenders kicking people out for conversations about white privilege, and apologize for the slander that one employee has made up about said patrons who've been patronizing for years. This will not end well for Tisane (tv media, print, word of mouth) if not handled with empathy and understanding.
I have a problem with bartenders, managers, or staff telling customers what topics are allowed to be discussed. Especially a white guy telling a black guy to stop discussing racism with his friend, and saying they need to leave if they won't change the subject. I'll make sure to avoid this place.
Sad to hear what Tisane has become. Sounds a lot like you need to keep some employees in check for their racism, discrimination and just plain rudeness.
Dear Tisane: impact > intent. You got a whole lotta white people working for you that are real quick to tell black people they’re wrong about racism when they see/experience it. So many people would have been able to move forward from this incident if only your response hadn’t been so 🙄. HEADS UP PATRONS: Also tho, this place is wildly overpriced, you will get your order that has about a 40/60 chance of being wrong from someone who finds themselves incredibly cool and whose time you’re wasting (there are def some amazing pe... read more
Racism doesn’t pair well with beer.
Many of us have been coming here for years. looking through the comments from almost a year ago I can see that a change in ownership may have caused some separation in the diversity and "home" Tisane once provided. The now bias staff evicts patrons who discuss racism in America as POC are dying around them. EVEN in the neighborhood they operate in. I would suggest going to park ave for tea or coffee there are so many otger establishments that are truly diverse and NOT gentrified watering holes for the bigots of WeHa and the ... read more
