We had been to the GP with our son as he is struggling with adjustment and bereavement. The tone of voice used by the member of staff answering the phone sounded like he was so bored! We had been incorrectly advised by the GP and you can’t self refer a 10 year old. There’s a way of saying it though and the lack of empathy and sympathy given the trauma we had just experienced that morning was disgusting. My daughter finished a course of counselling at the what centre today, after experiencing mental health difficulties after lockdown. I can honestly say the difference in her wellbeing really is dramatic, she is like a different child and we feel massively relieved as a family after a horribly stressful time. The waiting times are excellent given the current climate and the staff are lovely. I honestly can't thank my child's counsellor enough. This is an excellent local service and really so needed at the moment.
