About this business

The happy hour crowd here is well dressed and well heeled, and although the name and decor suggest that this is a tavern, the style here is a little more upscale. A nice menu of salads, sandwiches and appetizers draws a steady flow of shoppers from ritzy Phipps Plaza, while the drinkers generally flock to the patio that overlooks Peachtree Street. Try the Tavern's venerated chips and dip, or bite into a New Orleans Po Boy Sandwich, another specialty. Full bar service is available, and smoking is permitted on the patio. See w... read more

Best Rainbow Trout and Crawfish mashed potatoes – A dinner date brought me to the Tavern at Phipps 4 years ago and I have been a loyal customer every since. The amibiance is great, low lighting, band out side, etc.. You can actually carry on a private conversation while dining. The food is very delicious. I always order Fried Trout Ponchartrain Fried trout with lump crab meat and sliced almonds on top ) or the Gilled SIcilian Trout along with the Crawfish Garlic Mash potatoes that just simply melt in your mouth, and the Hone... read more

great chips – My husband and I seek out the Tavern for their 'chips' - which are really much more like nachos with upscale toppings. Our favorite are the Spinach Chips - tortilla chips covered with creamed spinach and melted cheese. They also have a great burger, onion rings, and steak sandwich. This is not the place to go if you are on a diet, but is an excellent choice before or after a movie (as long as you don't have the kids with you). They do a very large bar business, and allow smoking at night, which means you can't ... read more

Buckhead players talk shop, drink and dine at this see-and-be-seen spot for singles. – The Scene Cozy brick walls and dark-wood booths seem homely in Atlanta's ritziest mall, but the plastic-packing, dressed-up crowd puts things in perspective. Power lunchers, mall shoppers and those who wear Brooks Brothers suits dine in the restaurant. The real action, though, is at the bar, where veteran Buckhead players mingle during happy hour. Well-tanned stockbrokers talk about clients and golf; heads swivel to survey the scenery. The... read more

Great Service – I went to have dinner with some friends. My waiter was exceptional. Not only did he recommend the BBQ nachos, which were excellent, he also recommended a great bottle of wine that we shared over dinner. I had the NY Strip which was excellent and my wife had the Filet Mignon Salad. The restaurant was extremely busy and we only waited for a few minutes for our table. We were on our way to a movie and the server made sure we were on time and yet we had a great dinner. I will definitely be back.

No class joint – Long story short- My buddy and I are sitting at the bar, minding our own business. The Manager walks up and says we have to give up our seats to two young girls. Because it's their "policy" to let (pretty) girls sit. Say what? I notice the two girls sitting next to us were drinking free, the waitresses are wearing next to nothing. What is this place?

bar "scene" meets restaurant food – Nothing is spectacular, good for late afternoon casual dining. If you're in the mood for a crowded scene without being crowded out, seek a table near the corner. Good bar "scene", good food. Don't expect too much; the food is reasonably priced and tasty, well cooked, but don't expect exquisite, just pleasing. Not good for a formal date, but great for winding down with a friend. Again, head to Ruby Tuesday's or Houston's if you want a good evening dining experience, but this is good for the... read more

Best Happy Hour – The Tavern is a hot spot for great drinks and live music at night. The bartenders are hot and me and my girlfriends got free drinks. The bar reminds of "Cheers". If you want to have dinner the dining room is an excellent place for a different type atmosphere. The waitstaff is attentive and the fare is good. We had drinks at the bar and then dinner in the dining room. We will definitely be back.
