About this business

The happy hour crowd here is well dressed and well heeled, and although the name and decor suggest that this is a tavern, the style here is a little more upscale. A nice menu of salads, sandwiches and appetizers draws a steady flow of shoppers from ritzy Phipps Plaza, while the drinkers generally flock to the patio that overlooks Peachtree Street. Try the Tavern's venerated chips and dip, or bite into a New Orleans Po Boy Sandwich, another specialty. Full bar service is available, and smoking is permitted on the patio. See w... read more

The place to go after work! – The Tavern is the best place to grab a drink after work. I have been consistently impressed with everything the Tavern has to offer. The food is solid, bar has a great vibe, and the service rivals what you would expect in a high-end restaurant. Even though my friends and I have tried to visit other watering holes in Buckhead, we always end up back at the Tavern. It?s consistently superior. All of the food is great, but the steaks are like none other I have ever had. The bar is the best place to ... read more

When Gentlemen Are Asked To Act Like Gentlemen! – I've been a regular customer at The Tavern for the past ten years. Very good drinks, good food, and a great place to meet friends. It has always been their policy, for men to give up their seats at the bar, for the ladies. It is good Southern Hospitality at it's best, and creates a great atmosphere for the see and be seen crowd. All Atlantan's are always wecomed here. I have business associates from all races, religions, and backgrounds, and eveyone loves the Southern Hospita... read more

Not Recommended – It is very sad that you could have a rule for men to give up their seats to women. You never know what type of day a person has had, or what they may be going through. It is disrespectful to have male customers to get comfortable and then be asked to give up their seats. I've never heard of this happening at any other restaurant/bar. I myself would see this as being totally racial if I were black. I will never visit your restaurant again, nor will I recommend your restaurant to anyone else.

Busy,Beer and Bigotry!!! – I first visited the Tavern in 2003 when i lived just across the street at Phipps place and had just Moved to Atlanta from Miami, and wanted to learn the social hot spots for professionals. The unfamiliarity of my type can be see as different , i admit but should be welcoming ( being from south Floridian/Latin origin) and Atlanta being less culturaly diverse. On one frigid night in January with a cousin from Venezuela, we made a take out order (before the kitchen closed) and waited at the Bar ,the bart... read more

Whites Only Allowed – According to the AJC they are being served papers for forcing black men to leave the bar to give up seats to white women. Seems they were not "Southern Gentlemen" according to the owner. I would not ever eat here again. This place is a bruise for Atlanta.

Traditional Atlanta Establishment – Great food, wonderful atmosphere, tremendous history in Atlanta for having a fantastic bar atmoshpere and a really go getter place to meet and mingle. Unless you are African American in which case they will throw you out if you don't give up your seat mid-meal to white people.

Quality – The food at the tavern is consistently good. If you can fight the happy hour crowds and get a table, you are lucky. Saturday lunch is a good time to go.

Best after work spot – The Tavern is a staple in the Atlanta social scene. This the best place to grab a drink after work or to grab drinks before a night on the town. It is a really good crowd and the food is pretty good. Lots of good looking guys and fun live music. If you are new to Atlanta Tavern is a must!!!

Awful date place, Has gone downhill, slow service – This used to be "the place" to go after work. It WAS great to go with a huge group of people for marathon Happy Hours. What a shame! My friends and I won't be going at all anymore. I don't what management is thinking, but this place has turned into a cheesy Hootrz. The drinks and food are average at best now for the inflated cost. It used to be much better. The Tavern waitresses spend their time flirting and flipping their untied hair (yuck) instead of delivering the food a... read more
