History Established in 1945. For three decades, movie nights at the old Strand Theater at 38 N. Main St. appeared to be a thing of the past as attempts to rescue the building were unable to surmount the obstacles presented by a large, long-neglected building.So it is with great pleasure that the theater's current owners, Rodney and Lorraine Conard, announce that movies, as well as live music, have returned to The Strand! This is something Haywood Co. has needed for a long time. I always enjoy going there. The sound quality is very good as is the digital resolution.
