When in LA working, I always stay here. It's a soft welcoming place even if it has it's reputation as a party place. Location is excellent, the restaurant is open 24/7. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. It was formerly a retirement home called the Golden Crest (if I remember correctly) and at one time when I was staying at the infamous Hyatt On Sunset, once nicknamed "The Riot" due to the hedonism that was fueled by the many rockstars and bands that stayed there, we did a fashion shot at what later became The Standard Holl... read more
If this is your "standard", your standards are pretty low. Way overpriced. Cheap furniture that tries to be trendy. Bar charges $15 for basic cocktails (I'm talking Jim beam and soda). The wifi is slower than my grandma's dial-up. The forced valet parking is outrageously priced and only one valet guy seems to enjoy his job. Our room had a grocery bag tied around the smoke detector. One of the best places I've ever stayed at
Loving
Lived up to its rather racy image. Extremely comfortable bed, large room with balcony and no noise despite earplugs provided. We loved the pool area.
The Standard Hotel in Hollywood is highly known for the celebs. Yes you'll see some here and there. But overall, the restaurant wasn't that good. Service was great though. A+ for that. I just wasn't a fan. The pool area is a bit small from what I remember lol. There is service to provide drinks while hanging out. There is a minimum on certain days.
Great location, but the Hotel should be called the basic not the Standard. You can be retro without being without. Rooms leave little to be desired, nowhere to put your clothes, as they lack any drawer or dressers. The beds and floors squeak every time you move. I guess the tv signal is retro also, since every channel was almost unwatchable with static. Ever hear of HD? Went to the pool, which they allow locals to use, and tried to reserve 2 lounge chairs, was told they couldn't reserve chairs. I would never stay here again ... read more
It's a fun place, young vibe with pool side, bars and restaurants in the heart of Hollywood.
