Le Sanctuaire d'Avebury, sur Overton Hill, est un mystérieux monument Néolithique datant d'environ 2500 av. J.-C. Initialement cercles de poteaux en bois, puis de pierres, il servait probablement à des rites funéraires, comme en attestent les ossements humains découverts. Relié à Avebury par l'Avenue de West Kennet, il offre une vue imprenable sur le paysage sacré, malgré ses marqueurs en béton modernes.
Vor ungefähr 5.000 Jahren wurde an dieser Stelle eine Megalithanlage errichtet. In der Nähe befinden sich die Steinkreise von Avebury, das Langgrab West Kennet Long Barrow und der Silbury Hill.
