The Provy was absolutely the right place at the right time for me. I was seriously ill and in need of a safe space, a routine, and a group that really looked out for each other. I found all of them here and it is in no small part to the work of the team and the support of my peers that allowed me to have the 8 years of recovery that I have so far - I'm not exaggerating when I say that going 8 minutes without knowing where the next drink or substance was coming from was impossible for me so 8 years is amazing. I checked in to the Provi for a 4 week stay for alcohol addiction. I ended up extending for a further 2 weeks. It was worth every single penny, probably less than I would have spent on drink & drugs in that time! The staff are amazing and if you do the work, listen and engage you get the most benefit. My experience of the Provy was a positive one. After a week in Detox, I moved into a house with 5 other people. The group therapy and one on one councilling helped considerably. Especially Dougie who was my councillor, he was very good and helped me work through my difficulties. I made some amazing friends and have benefited from their support and friendship since leaving. So much so, that at this time, I have not had a drink for 3 years. Thank you to all at the Provy for starting me on my first steps to sobriety.

I had been through the cycles of relapse and recovery more times than I could count, and part of me didn’t believe I could ever really heal. But walking into Provy felt different. It didn’t feel clinical. It didn’t feel like a punishment. It felt like… possibility. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warmth—not just from the team, but from the space itself. There’s a stillness at Provy th... read more
