The Prime Rib

4.6

About this business

For more than 30 years, this downtown restaurant has been Baltimore's benchmark for upscale steakhouses. The signature dish shows why. The Prime Rib Steak is a tender 24-ounce behemoth, a full three inches thick. The rest of the offerings, including several fine seafood dishes, are just as good, if not as weighty. It's hard to believe, but the decor - black walls, gold curtains and leopard-print carpet - is somehow just right. Side dishes are a la carte, and the wine list is great.

It has awesome seafood too... – I've been told it's a sin, but I order seafood from their menu most of the time. The meat is never less than perfect, but I've yet to find Crab Imperial that comes even close to the rich, perfectly seasoned version that the Prime Rib serves anywhere else in Baltimore. Seafood lovers might be dissapointmented when their partners pick most steakhouses, but the freshness and expertise in preparation of the food here rivals the city's best seafood restaurants. And my 'no' answer for the good for c... read more

"STEAKED OUT!!" – I've eaten in many fine restaurants from N.Y. to S.F.,and to be frank, I didn't expect the quality of service I received, in Baltimore. The food was excellent, and served on time. The ambience of the restaurant was warm, but most important, the service I received from my waiter was superb, without "hovering" over us, he had the second sense to know, when he was needed. i tip my hat to a great restaurant. P.S. you have to try the oysers!

New York in Baltimore – The decor and ambience are New York revisited. The food is excellent too. My all time favorite.

The Fairest in the land – Wonderful romantic ambience. You feel Fred Astaire or Gary Grant will walk in wearing tuxedos. The service is impeccable, and the food is in a world unto itself. Wonderful fish and the best steak in town. While not the place you might expect to find it, the best crab cake in this town famous for same. Finally the desserts will send you home deciding you will need to fast for a month

SCOTT & MAGS – THERE IS NO BETTER STEAK IN BALTIMORE. THE FOOD, SERVICE, AND ATMOSPHERE ARE EXCELLENT. THE DRINKS ARE PERFECT EVERY TIME. FOOD TO DIE FOR.

The name says it all – You have got to appreciate a restaurant that is named after a cut of beef...well maybe not, but this is where you get great steak. There are many close (Ruth Chris, Mortons, etc.) but for the ultimate experience this is the place. Fantastic cuts, generous sides, and a wonderful atmosphere bring this steak house to the top. The only thing that would make it better would be the level of service that you get at Ruth Chris.

Romantic and Elegant – As a former New Yorker, I was delighted to find elegant and consistent dining at the fabled Prime Rib when I moved to Charm City. Our every dining need was anticipated during the first and subsequent visits. The food is expertly prepared and the music helps create a romantic and lively atmosphere. Cudoes to the host and general manager for remembering even our most difficult last name.

Ole reliable – Great entry, to a fabulous vase of flowers, and a glass bar. The tables and chairs, cast iron.. you need "Arnold" to pull them, but the Matre' d will do so no bother. Leopard rug on the floor makes you absolutely need a dry martini in just right "always" wait seating. The sizes are are right, pricy but value, and the service always has been top notch. It's not very big, and it's some times hard to find on a dark night in Baltimore, but I love this place. By the way, I took my 10 year old there, and they were w... read more

Plenty for you money! – The food was excellent! Even though it is on the pricey side, we were served plenty of food. The sides were tasty and large enough to share. I would visit again!
