For more than 30 years, this downtown restaurant has been Baltimore's benchmark for upscale steakhouses. The signature dish shows why. The Prime Rib Steak is a tender 24-ounce behemoth, a full three inches thick. The rest of the offerings, including several fine seafood dishes, are just as good, if not as weighty. It's hard to believe, but the decor - black walls, gold curtains and leopard-print carpet - is somehow just right. Side dishes are a la carte, and the wine list is great.

Disappointing – Took my bride to the Prime Rib to celebrate our anniversary. I would NOT recommend it for others. The waiter made it quite clear right from the beginning that he had no interest in being there -- or maybe he had no interest in us being there. The food was very good, except for the bland house salad. But the tight quarters and the waiter ruined the atmosphere. The valet deserved more of a tip than did the waitstaff.
Great Prime Rib – and yes, there are plenty of other delicious things to eat there, BUT if you want a great prime rib, think of The Prime Rib first - I have never been let down by the food or staff here
Sophisticated – It is a Baltimore icon. Piano playin' in the backround while you gaze into your lover's eyes...........C'mon you're getting some tonight! You know it! Just because you came to the Prime Rib!
Not worth full price – My husband & I ate at the Baltimore location of The Prime Rib. We went during Restaurant Week to celebrate my birthday on 8/11/09 Pros: the food was fantastic. I didn't personally care much for the dressing on the caesar salad but my husband loved it (he thinks they make the dressing from scratch). For me it had too much of a vinegar taste followed by a spicy taste (neither flavor is one I care for personally). The bread they give you was great(I'm not a poppy seed or sesame seed person; the bread had ... read more
Not worth the money! – Went to prime rib for Valentines dinner. Not the ambiance we were looking for. No coatcheck, $12.00 martinis. The worst part was seating is elbow to elbow with your neighbor. No complaints on the food. The food was good. I just don't like sitting in my neighbors lap when trying to have a romantic dinner with my girl. Not worth the money, go to Capial Grill.
Just What I Was Looking For – My girlfriend came to Baltimore for the weekend and I wanted to take her somewhere really great. This place was awesome...some reviewers said it's crowded...well, it wasn't crowded at all. The food was amazing, like top 10 of my whole life amazing. The service was great, I have nothing to complain about. The atmosphere was romantic and quiet. I had reservations for 5 right when they opened...good time to go. Bread was really warm and fresh. There was no live Saxophone, I thought there would be o... read more
go for flemings, or mortons, or ruth chris. – Im a steak buff. Love Rays, Mortons, Sam and Harry's and Ruth Chris. Prime Rib on Chase St in Baltimore? Good steaks, but our 8:30 reservation got us sat at 9:15. A sordid apology from the manager.... "sorry its restaurant week and we are busy". Lazy waiters, weak drinks, but the food was good. If you are just out with friends, service isnt a big issue, and you arent looking to impress, this is a good place for a great dinner with reasonable service. Nothing special, but nothing ... read more
Great Food Great Service – Hadn't been to the Prime Rib in awhile, but it's still oustanding! The Prime Rib entree is the best in town. Love the creamed spinach. And the service is perfect--quiet, efficient, friendly, totally professional. The live music makes a perfect environment.
Fantastic Dining Experience – The atmosphere is like no other. Very traditional feel and very helpful staff. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Prime Rib (bone out) and can honestly say it was the best piece of prime rib I have ever had. The creamed vegetables were crisp and delicious as well. Can't say enough about how enjoyable of an experience this restaurant was. It is more expensive but worth every penny.
