The Pit

About this business

The Pit offers some of the best barbecue in Raleigh. Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

My brisket tasted like hot dogs, my turkey had too much vinegar, and the fried Chicken was average at best... but the beer was good!!!

Had a wonderful lunch date with my wife and son. Very good bbq, best I've had in a long time. Service was great food came out fast and hot. Best deal you could get with a buffet style. Thanks again

The food was okay. Even though they got my order wrong. I paid $4 more for rubbery ribs. The service was total shit though. Waiter was sighing and tapping his pen while we ordered. The girl that got our drinks wouldn't say a word, smile, or make eye contact. Literally tossed the menus on the table and walked away. Then I was charged double on the first check they brought me. You'll have a better experience at Denny's.

The Brisket can't be beat. It melts in your mouth. The deviled eggs are also some of the best we've had. We have never had a bad meal here. Be prepared for a bit of a wait but it's worth it.
