Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

Yummy! Great Fried Chicken!!! Super delicious sides... had mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, Mac n' cheese, black eyed peas (just like dads)! Sweet potato cornbread with maple butter! Everything was really good, you will not want to leave a morsel on your plate, unless your taking it home! Needless to say, you will leave stuffed!!! �
Pretty much just average barbecue in my opinion... I pretty much tried everything and nothing made me want to come back for more. Service was really good
The host told us 1 hr wait and when we came to the desk 1 hr later they said they told us 1 1/2 hrs. The ribs and BBQ was AIGHT but all the sides were HORRIBLE. My server didn't serve us another guy took care of our refill. I chalked it up to a 1 bad night and if I lived here I'd try it again to see if we could have a better experience.
Something new FRESH and I would recommend it to all people to try I give THE PIT AUTHENTIC BBQ AND #A+

It's definitely not what it used to be when it first opened. beef brisket was tough and had too much fat and grizzle on it.
