The Leaning Pear is owned and operated by Rachel and Matthew Buchanan, both native Texans and graduates of Texas A&M University. Upon graduation, the couple relocated to Perugia, Italy, to explore the tastes and techniques of Italian cuisine while teaching English for a year. They returned to the U.S. for Matthew to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts at the renowned Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. We had dinner there to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. My brother had made the drive even though he has a shoulder that is broken in 3 places and was medicated for pain. We were put in the hottest corner possible, which had no blinds to filter out the sun. No one liked the soup. No one was overly impressed with their food, but we were just happy to be all together. The food was good but the portions are a little small.
The restaurant was beautiful. Clean. The menu was not what we were looking for. The waite staff was rude about not liking the menu. Gave us crap about paying for the cokes and not liking the menu. Rude
Food was different than anything I’ve ever seen — and delicious! And the service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
The food is ALWAYS spectacular... but what I love the most is their dedication to the community. You will never find a business so completely involved and unceasingly generous!!!
