The Jacobson

4.1

About this business

The Crossroads Arts District is filled with exceptional restaurants and The Jacobson is just another addition to this lively area. The bar/restaurant features American comfort food fused with some new twists, for example, the house burger is topped with a short-rib marmalade, bone marrow butter and crispy onion straws. Moreover, the spot is open for lunch and dinner and also has a wonderful bar that serves hand-crafted cocktails. Check website for complete menu and specials, like their 'Mingle Hour' which runs from 3-6pm and... read more

Last night was our final return to the Jacobson. We came for a birthday gathering amongst friends - a party of approx 12 with reservations made. The team had everything setup which was great. Our waiter Jed explained the specials and got us going with drinks. My husband ordered the Jacobson burger, billed by Jed as the best burger in America by a NY magazine. He requested medium - meant to be pinkish. Upon arrival it was a bit over cooked - zero pink. We weren't wanting to wait for a new one to be re-fired, and politely call... read more

We sat at the bar. A very nice cocktail menu. The service was quick and friendly. We both had burgers and were not disappointed.

Happy hour ends too early, the happy hour food we ordered were awful (Jos Chicken, Pork tacos, and Rangoon). Tacos were the best out of the three, the fist two drinks we asked for they didn't carry, and when the bill came they charged me an extra dollar per drink for more water in my glass. I order vodka and water! I've heard the regular menu is wonderful, but I do NOT recommend happy hour...

I went to this place with a group of friends and the manager yelled at us for wanting to use chairs at the end of the table so that we didn't have to squeeze all of our friends in one booth. (Even though the table right next to us was doing the exact same thing.) He was aggressive and it was uncalled for. Don't go here unless you enjoy being belittled.

Great atmosphere outside on the patio, and the brussel sprouts appetizer was fantastic. Lauren, our waitress, was attentive and had a great personality. We will definitely be back, but next time, we'll have dinner.

I had the Jacobson burger, my wife had the kc strip, my niece and nephew both the bacon wrapped filet mignon with shrimp and said it was good. My burger was good Brussel sprouts were terrible dry. My wife ordered her steak medium well, it came well. I won't comment on my nephew or nieces. The meal was brought out by the staff with no condiments and took a bit to get them. Waiter was cute at first but his attitude quickly got on my nerves as he thought that all he had to do was cater to my wife and treat me with a condensing ... read more

We sat outside. The "stunning KC skyline views" were a bit misleading, and the patio smelled like sewage. We left before I finished my mediocre cocktail. I can't speak for their food or other drinks, and it looked like the inside may be nicer.
