The Jacobson

4.1

About this business

The Crossroads Arts District is filled with exceptional restaurants and The Jacobson is just another addition to this lively area. The bar/restaurant features American comfort food fused with some new twists, for example, the house burger is topped with a short-rib marmalade, bone marrow butter and crispy onion straws. Moreover, the spot is open for lunch and dinner and also has a wonderful bar that serves hand-crafted cocktails. Check website for complete menu and specials, like their 'Mingle Hour' which runs from 3-6pm and... read more

We come to KC about once a year on average, and we have a few favorite places. I put out a call for recommendations for dinner, and The Jacobson seemed to be a place that would accommodate the palates of my wife, our teenage daughter, and me. It was just kind of blah. Lighting was not good and could barely read the menu. Server was a tad obnoxious. The girls liked their food ok, but my steak was awful. I sent it back and ordered a burger and it was just average. The staff was very gracious about the whole deal, and that coun... read more

I've always enjoyed The Jacobson. Annoying that they no longer validate parking at the garage that has their name across it in big, bold letters. But, hey, Cafe Gratitude does.

Food, dare I call it food? The masterpiece presented to me was beyond words. I had a cedar plank salmon with the root vegetable hash ,wilted greens and sweet potato. quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had. My drink was also excellent. My husband’s old-fashioned was made incorrectly , however. The ambience and the service was also excellent.

Our office celebrated at the Jacobson last night and it could not have been a better experience. Service was excellent, beginning when I made the reservation and ending with our attentive serving staff. Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Food was delicous and very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit them again!

Came here for lunch today during Restaurant Week. The food was fantastic! Loved the bucatini (with meatballs) and butterscotch pudding. Husband thought the pork sandwich was fab--delicious spice mixture used in the barbecue! Love the artistic, industrial, bar look of the place. Fits in well with Kansas City's historic train scenery and vibe. Service was fantastic, and we look forward to coming again!

Wonderful, attentive service! Great explanation of the menu items when asked and the filet was great with the "Jacobson" treatment!
