I love the all ages venue! The sound is good and it is an up close type of place. The shows here are cheap but great. They do not soak you for water and such, $1 for water, $2 for soda and beer and wine are available. The one issue is the lack of airflow...IT GETS HOT!! Maybe if they make enough some ceiling fans could be installed...or a couple of big stand up fans in the choir.

I like the Irenic. There are not enough 'all ages' venues in San Diego. The people that run the Irenic are awesome and really care about the local music scene. They don't do "pay to play" and have booked some amazing shows. Yes, it is a church by day. So what. It holds over 400 people and they have invested some serious $$$ into sound and lighting/staging. Just remember to get there early because parking can be difficult.

I love this venue and I'm not just saying that because I work there. Great bands, atmosphere, and it makes me feel like I'm a teenager again except now I'm the old security guy telling kids not to stage dive or make sure there isn't any underage drinking goin on. Good job Irenic!

To sum it up, the Irenic sucks. I have had 3 bad experiences at this venue, the sound quality is good, but the vibe of the place is not cool. They have these 2 huge TV's on each side of the stage that serve no purpose except to advertise that the venue is the Irenic, and that the toilets are around the corner. For some reasons bands continue to book this venue, surely they learn their lesson and never come back. There are so many better locations that they could choose.
