I have had the good fortune to find Dr. Xu at the pain management clinic at The Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines. Although I have varying lower torso pains (not one location all the time), Dr. Xu has exceeded my expectations. Before I had even met him, he reviewed my file. He suggests ways to improve the pain. I have had two rounds of injections, been prescribed physical therapy and looked at my X-rays, with clear explanations. I am a Veteran whose referral was declined. I was interested in nerve blocks from which this place provides that service. I was not even offered a consultation appointment to discuss anything. I was unaware that intercostal or occipital blocks were something this place couldn't do. Every pain clinic should understand nerves. My referral was sent out as basic so at the very least a consultation would be appropriate. Not to mention community care called your clinic twice and was provided no explanation when they asked. They told me I was going to be on gabapentin for the rest of my life for neuropathy and treated me like an idiot. I'm so glad I stopped listening to those quacks long enough to figure out I had a folate deficiency. Neuropathy free for 2 years. I just wonder how many other people are suffering from something I figured out by my myself with a self administered $50 test. Clinics like this don't make money from curing people. They have nothing to be arrogant about... They know absolutely nothing about the human body.
