Located downtown near the University of Alabama-Birmingham and its medical center, the Fish Market is the cheapest and possibly the best seafood restaurant in Birmingham. The owners are from Greece, so the self-service dining area is decorated with Greek photos and artwork. There is a small grocery area and of course, a fish market. The food is fresh, and the portions large. Be prepared for a crowd at any given time; this place is an unbeatable value and that's a well-known fact.

The service was really good. That is about all I can say for it.
RecommendedBest fish I have had in a long time. Highly recommend the grouper or tuna steaks. Calamari and fried green tomatoes are wonderful as well.
Food was horrible!!! No seasoning and bland. Never will go here again. Rather went to Captain D’s.
I had the Super Greek Salad which comes with chicken, but they allowed a substitution of fish medallions, grouper, which was cooked to perfection. Only Bad part of the salad was the cucumbers were so huge that I could not even cut them with a knife. They needed to be smaller. The server did not refill our waters, even though mine was low. The salad itself was was wonderful, very happy that they put the dressing on the side so you can just how much you want. My Jim and I enjoyed celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary at The Fish Market last night with good friends, an absolutely delicious meal and awesome atmosphere...the trio was such a pleasant surprise...making it a super evening!!!
Went to celebrate a friends birthday and had a wonderful meal and the best service from Marion. Can't wait for my next visit next week.
Truly enjoyable experience. Unique atmosphere, enjoyable and eclectic live music, and some of the best seafood I've ever had. Kevin, our server, was amazing, quick, and knowledgeable. He seemed like he was genuinely proud to be a part of the place. That should tell you everything you need to know about the place right there.
