The Crazy Gator

4.0

About this business

History of our building dates back to 1928. It started out as a feed and storage depot in the 20's. Supplies came by boat and rail. After that business, the building has been used as a Scotty's, Motorcycle repair shop, & Flea Market. The building was then abandoned for quite a few years. Then in 1998, it was rebuilt inside out and became a restaurant called Sunset Steakhouse. The top layer of roof was blown off in 2001 and the building and restaurant was sold. June 4, 2001 The Crazy Gator was opened by Beth and Steve Robin.

We were there for lunch. There were a few big parties. Ordered a burger and fish special. Took way to long. 40 minutes. View was nice, but probably won't be going back.

The food was lousy. Had a patty melt and fries. Onions only on one side of the sandwich cut in half the fries were the worst fries I have ever had. They brought out fresh still the worst. Tasted as if they were old potatoes. Will not be going back.

As the old sayings go, third times a charm or three and out. Last night was the third time I had a terrible experience with both food and service. More the kitchen than the waitress but she would come by less often the longer the kitchen took. How someone can say institutional frozen food is great I can't figure out. You would think the owners would come around but when then don't want to hear negative comments you will never see them! Third bad experience and never going back!

Great good. Great service. Fun atmosphere. Really wish you could sit outside to enjoy the beautiful lakeviews and sunsets without the smokers though.

The bartenders were awful. I was sitting right at the bar and they never asked if I wanted a drink or even looked in my direction. I had to flag them down if I wanted anything. The fried pickles were good but the bbq boneless wings were not. It seemed they fried the chicken, threw them in a basket and pour the entire bottle of bbq sauce in. They didn't coat them just poured.
