About this business

The Bookstore Speakeasy is your portal to the 1920s. Behind a nondescript black door bearing only the words "The Bookstore," is a lively bar that hosts a jazz band several nights a week. The decor is in keeping with the theme, featuring vintage accents. Creatively mixed drinks are named with just as much imagination (try the Shirley Temple of Doom).

We are relying on our unconscious to be honest with us, and we could be sadly misled! (From my menu. They made me quote it.)

The entire night was amazing! We ordered 3 appetizers (cheese tray, salmon dumplings and mussels), 2 entrees (Spare ribs and Mushroom Pasta) and 2 desserts (chocolate cake and ice cream) and it all was delicious! The service was exceptional and my drink was to die for! New favorite...the Deacon Blues! LOVED it so much I ordered 3!!

It was a great experience. We went for my brother's birthday and it was wonderful..the band was great and the staff was exceptionally nice and attentive. The food and drinks were great. The bookstore captures the era perfectly. We are already planning another day to come and visit...

Entrance and having to wait for the bookkeeper were intriguing, waitress was very friendly and helpful with food and drink choices, our food choices were appetizers and were delicious (especially the black truffle oil fries!) and our drinks were tasty and potent! Too bad there was a 2 hour limit for our table. Looking forward to returning!

Big city little secret "hole in the wall" vibe in the middle of nowhere, perfection. Even I missed the entry door...and that's saying something. Menus in old books, great drinks and snacks...worth another visit back, for sure.
