The Bookstore Speakeasy

About this business

The Bookstore Speakeasy is your portal to the 1920s. Behind a nondescript black door bearing only the words "The Bookstore," is a lively bar that hosts a jazz band several nights a week. The decor is in keeping with the theme, featuring vintage accents. Creatively mixed drinks are named with just as much imagination (try the Shirley Temple of Doom).

First time at a Speakeasy, and it was wonderful. Service was excellent! And the atmosphere was great too! Prices for drinks were a little high, but other than that, it was great!

Food was amazing! The crab cakes were huge. My boyfriend got the pork chop and it was cooked perfectly. We had the apple cake for desert and wow! Definitely going back to try more! The service was fast and everyone working was very nice!

Definitely worth it. The 20's era cocktails I wish were still popular... the menu though well prepared us 4 star not 5

I had an incredible time here. It's funny, the lower reviews complain of it being dark, low lit, crowded, hard to find, etc., but lo and behold it's exactly what I would hope a Speakeasy would be. The experience of trying to find it was all part of the fun. The staff was awesome, engaging, personal. The drinks were out of this world. It was a mixed and diverse crowd, and of all ages. It wasn't loud like a club, it was personal and charming. As we left, well after midnight mind you, the hostess was Windexing an old mirror tha... read more
