I have been a patient of Dr. Makkena since February 2011 after experiencing a heart attack and subsequent quintuple bypass surgery. Today, at age 82, I consider myself in excellent health and am able to do all I wish to do on a daily basis, including a fifty minute walk each day. This, I believe, possible by following the advice received from him on semiannual office visits. Additionally and without exception, the office staff are always professional and easy to work with.

Dr Makkena listened attentively to my concerns and questions and answered them quite well. I felt he had the experience and background I could rely on. His office and professional staff were a pleasure to work with.

My stress test indicated that a large volume of my heart was getting NO BLOOD! Because we had to wait for my body to eliminate the dye, I had to trust in God and Dr. Makkena. Two days later after two stints I have full blood flow and the ultrasound shows no detectable heart damage. God worked a miracle through Dr. Makkena. He is a very gifted doctor with excellent technical and people skills.

This was my first appointment with Doctor Makkena and If was any indication of future visits, I made the right decision. The Doctor listened to my situation with extreme interest and carefully explained and erased any concerns I may have had. I did not feel rushed and appreciated his attentiveness. I look forward to having Doctor Makkena as my Cardiologist in the future.

Within minutes of meeting Dr. Makkena I felt confident he was the correct choice for me. He projected trust, caring and the latest medical treatment and knowledge available. He showed a no-nonsense approach to get started on testing me and putting a treatment plan together that would produce results for me. His up close, eye-to-eye contact put me at ease immediately. He showed me he had done his homework before coming into the treatment room. My visit was completed the way it needed to be done.

Dr. Makkena has superb credentials including board certification for his specialty, which is why I chose him. His staff is kind and the clinic is pleasant.

I have been going to Dr. Makkena for about 5 years now. Since moving to his current location, the staff is so much better. Of course Dr. Makkena has always been great. He is attentive and listens to what I have to say. He takes the time to explain in layman’s terms what is causing my problems. He was able to diagnose my heart issue immediately when 4 other ER doctors had no clue what was happening. A test confirmed his diagnosis. He cares about the patient and his staff is great.
