Chef's Got Game – The calamari was perfectly cooked, soft, not tough. Had the penne with lamb ragu - tasted like it was slow-cooked all night until it was melt-in-your-mouth succulent. The almond custard torte was creamy smooth and not too sweet. The waiter suggested some great wine parings. Service was attentive and helpful, glasses were always filled. We were there on Saturday night. The place was packed with many attractive people. Had to wait over a half hour at the bar, but the company was good. Enjoyed glancing up from... read more
Restaurant and nightclub superstar brings high-end but surprisingly family-friendly Italian cuisine a few blocks from the Grove. – In Short After opening her hugely successful "resto-lounge" Parc, Shereen Arazm has brought out an old favorite from the northeast--a cozy Italian gem she helped run in Toronto. Catering to both power brokers and neighborhood families, pizza makers flip dough in the open kitchen while heartier appetites can take in house-made pastas or traditional Italian meats and fishes. The stone-walled dining... read more
Good Italian Food – We recently read the bad reviews some people gave, but decided to try it anyway. We went early on a Sunday night and got seated right away, received great service and enjoyed the food. No complaints from us (except the $6 valet parking fee).
No reservations, no substitutions, no add-ons. This statement is printed across the bottom of each page of the menu and pretty much sets the tone for an fulfilling and frustrating dining experience. We were a group of 6 and went on Saturday night. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew this was going to be a hassle. We arrived at 7:45 and weren?t sat until nearly 9. I asked the manager why they didn?t take reservations and in a snippy tone he said, ?We just don?t.? Once we sat down, our waiter couldn?t be bothered with... read more
Third time not a charm – Tonight was our third dinner at Teroni, and more than likely last First time we tried the place was just a week in to their grand opening and my wife and I couldn?t believe the crowds. We got lucky and got two seats at the bar. 20 minutes and $25 for two drinks later we were seated at a tiny table elbow to elbow with the guests next to us. My wife had the seafood pasta and I had the beef special. Food was fine but portions were small. Few weeks later we decided to give the place another try. This tim... read more
YUM! – Wow - I have been to Terroni several times since it has opened because I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE PLACE! The staff is adorable. The pasta is CRIMINAL. Parpadelle - amazing... Geppeto - stellar... the Lamb Ragu (it's only a special sometimes, I guess) TO DIE FOR. The pizzas are out of this world! There's one called the Don Corado that made me weep. I tried the Puzza last time and I swear, I'm an infidel now. Then there's the tirramisiu (I don't know how to spell that), the chocolate tort, the panna cotta! And let's not ... read more
notsomuch – i had high hopes for this place, having read and heard some nice things. however, i was really disappointed on almost every level. the wait wasn't bad and hosts were pretty friendly, even warning us of the $25 corkage (pricey for a "casual" place like this). the menu is extensive, environment very loud, and servers nice but rushed. ours recommended a pizza and before we had a chance to look at the choices she put the order in, and when it came it had no cheese on it, which we didn't care for. oh well. the main is... read more
no substitutions, no add ons, no balsamic! – I'm from Toronto and was excited to see this little chain open here so I went for lunch last week and had the ham and mozza panini- which was 80% bread and 20% ham and cheese with some olive oil and salt and pepper. It was so dry and unappealing that I thought I'd ask for some balsamic vinegar to spice it up a little- and the waitress sheepishly told me that she WASN"T ALLOWED to bring me any because "the chef is serving true Italian food and he expects the food to be eaten exactl... read more
Recommended – Dear Diner, What can I say.... RECOMMENDED!!! Food is simple with great flavor. Minor problems include, salads slightly overdressed, produce not fresh enough, and the price can add up if you're not careful. I'm analyzing it a little much. I will definitely go back. They have a huge menu, which usually means....AVERAGE! But they pull it off due to the simplicity of the dishes. I've driven by and seen it empty a few times, but I have a feeling that once it fills up, it will stay that way for a long time. STRONG C... read more
