In a city where most restaurants have a lifespan of less than five years, it is heartening, if not surprising, to find such an old-timer. Politicians and business people have been coming here forever, buying each other martinis and waiting to be seated (no reservations are accepted). The seafood is fresh and fabulous and the decor is turn-of-the-last-century. The waitstaff is great, and it's not surprising--some of them have been here more than 30 years!

Nostalgia at it's Finest – How can you not recommend this place. Must be those McDonald's kids again.
Not worth it – I read all of the reviews and looked forward to dinner here. Unfortunately the service was apathetic at best and the food only average. What killed this place was the service: the wait staff was rude, curt and unattentive. There are a million better places to eat in SF.
The Coolest Tourist's Review of the Tadich Grill – I'm currently on a trip in San Francisco with my parents, sister, grandmother and cousin from my father's side of the family. My mom is a reservation freak and although she had already made a reservation at another restaurant, my grandma and my dad said, "OH WE'RE GOING TO THE TADICH GRILL!" So we went, all of us tired from a long day touring SF, and I must say that the wait at the Tadich Grill is rather long. But once you get inside the wood-panelled restaurant, you're surr... read more
Great Cioppino, Seafood, and Steak – Took my parents for their "last meal" while visiting SF. We arrived around 5:45 and waited for about 30 min: no reservations are accepted. One can avoid the wait by eating at the bar. My Dad really wanted to try cioppino, the SF fish stew with everything in it: he said it was excellent, a huge portion, very fresh seafood and complicated in taste. My mother had the house special sole in the wine/butter sauce: she too found the fish fresh and not too heavy. I had the steak with mushroom sau... read more
I Don't Know Why This Place is So Popular – The food here is decent, but hardly worth the hassle and the awful attitude of the staff. It amazes me that people put up with the headache to eat here.
Consistent, fine seafood. – Over the years, my husband and I have gone to Tadich's for lunch whenever we're in the Bay area. Recently, my son and I went on a weekday at prime lunch hour. It was packed with businessmen waiting in line, but we managed to find two seats at the bar. The waitress/bartender was swamped, but still managed to keep a close eye on us. The food, as always, was simply prepared and flavorful. The ambience is loud, but the tiled floor and wood panelling and bar create a special setting for a fine meal. We... read more
Terrible at half the price – I went with two coworkers. After hearing all of the reviews, and the long wait, our appetizer arrived. We chose the fried calamari, which was slightly above average. For main courses, two of us ordered Filet Mignon; one medium-rare, and the other medium. Our friend ordered a lamb dish. When the food arrived, I was amazed at the Filet Mignon. I tried both and they were the driest, most overcooked and unpalatable steaks I have eaten. At 33 bucks apiece. I am amazed that it could have even happened ... read more
One of My Favorites .... – The Tadich Grill is one of the few places that you can walk in and see people dressed in blue jeans and t-shirts along with those dressed "to the nines." The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is great. It seems to be the only place that I know that when you order Medium Rare steak serves Medium Rare steak. Sure the waiters are "gruff" but they are among the best and will make your evening GREAT! 5 STARS FOR THIS RESTAURANT!!
A SF Institution – The food will not blow you away but you will still enjoy your experience at the Tadich Grill. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but this is San Francisco so it does come across as average. The old time servers will ensure your dining experience will be a good one. It's nice to have places like this around to eat at when you crave a little nostalgia.
