In a city where most restaurants have a lifespan of less than five years, it is heartening, if not surprising, to find such an old-timer. Politicians and business people have been coming here forever, buying each other martinis and waiting to be seated (no reservations are accepted). The seafood is fresh and fabulous and the decor is turn-of-the-last-century. The waitstaff is great, and it's not surprising--some of them have been here more than 30 years!

Terrible at half the price – I went with two coworkers. After hearing all of the reviews, and the long wait, our appetizer arrived. We chose the fried calamari, which was slightly above average. For main courses, two of us ordered Filet Mignon; one medium-rare, and the other medium. Our friend ordered a lamb dish. When the food arrived, I was amazed at the Filet Mignon. I tried both and they were the driest, most overcooked and unpalatable steaks I have eaten. At 33 bucks apiece. I am amazed that it could have even happened ... read more
One of My Favorites .... – The Tadich Grill is one of the few places that you can walk in and see people dressed in blue jeans and t-shirts along with those dressed "to the nines." The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is great. It seems to be the only place that I know that when you order Medium Rare steak serves Medium Rare steak. Sure the waiters are "gruff" but they are among the best and will make your evening GREAT! 5 STARS FOR THIS RESTAURANT!!
A SF Institution – The food will not blow you away but you will still enjoy your experience at the Tadich Grill. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but this is San Francisco so it does come across as average. The old time servers will ensure your dining experience will be a good one. It's nice to have places like this around to eat at when you crave a little nostalgia.
Great Food / Lously Bar – Atmosphere was classic, made you feel like you were in a old time resturant. Was very noisy and buzy. Food was very much worth the wait. Bar tender could not do much more than pour a beer.
feels like one of the family – A great Californian restaurant! Being from Minnesota, this was a treat! The seafood was excellent. The waiters are in their fifties and are vetrans of the place. Ours was very entertaining. Would return for sure.
A San Francisco MUST! – Tadich's is an absolute must on your dining list, one of the best establishments in San Francisco. Everything is perfect from the minute you walk in the door until the sad time of departing. Great ambiance!
Not for the insecure – True, the waiters won't hold your hand. Who cares, we come here for the food - nothing flashy, just fresh and expertly prepared. I know it's environmentally incorrect but I highly recommend any sea bass entree; they don't overcook it like Spengers. Grouper and Sturgeon are excellent when available. Pork chops and lamb chops are also very nicely grilled and are good values. Great cioppino too. If you want to be coddled by your waiter you're in the wrong place, however, they are professional and much bet... read more
Bad Service, So So Food – My boyfriend took my parents and I there for my birthday. He dropped us off at the door. They wouldn't seat us until he got there and told us to have a seat at the bar. We don't drink so we stood for the next 10 minutes while we watched everyone else walk in behind us and get seated. We finally got seated and the waiter showed up 15 minutes. We told him our drink order and that we were ready to order and he said "one thing at a time." He dropped our drinks off and still didn't take food orders. When... read more
Great all around – Great place to go after a long day, wonderful waiters who always keep you on your toes. Tadich Grill is a great place to hang out and have a great meal that doesn't cost that much. The booths are the best part of the place, get one and have a great time watching people at the bar and also the waiters.
