In a city where most restaurants have a lifespan of less than five years, it is heartening, if not surprising, to find such an old-timer. Politicians and business people have been coming here forever, buying each other martinis and waiting to be seated (no reservations are accepted). The seafood is fresh and fabulous and the decor is turn-of-the-last-century. The waitstaff is great, and it's not surprising--some of them have been here more than 30 years!

the best. – been eating there when i could since 1960. best fish anywhere, east or west coast. excellently prepared. one of the few places that will freshly prepare vegetables. spinach always good. also unusual these days can get everything garlic free. most places use so much it contaminates all the food being prepared. service good, no delay between finish of preparation and delivery to table. downsides: rest rooms up steep stairs. can be long wait for table, no reservations.
One of the Oldest Restaurants in SF This place is a classic SF Restaurant. The food is great and the prices are decent. The seating is cool because it is bar style with stools. This is a great place to come to for either lunch or dinner.
One of the oldest restaurants in the city, and known for great seafood, the Tadich is riding on its laurels somewhat now. Wait staff prances around hoity-toitily, then serves you up another table's order. Fish is still pretty good, though.
Great Food / Worst Service EVER! – I even considered giving them a star because of the food. The service was the worst. My water was NEVER refilled. My mom ordered soup, and when everyone's food came, they told her it was NO LONGER available. So she had to order something different that came out AFTER we were all done. Terrible terrible service. Finally got to a point where we asked for the manager - who was just awful. I mean said sorry as he was walking away. JUST AWFULLLLLLLLLL!
Not good at all – Overall, the experience was less than favorable. Upon arriving at Tadich Grill Restaurant with my boyfriend, we were greeted by a gentleman who took our name down for a table. The bar service was actually the best part of the experience since our bartender was kind enough to actually provide excellent customer service, as should be expected for a higher end establishment. When we got seated at our table, we waited up to 15 minutes before we could even get a server to greet us and acknowledge that we were th... read more
Great Seafood, great service – My friend intorduce me to Tadich Grill, and told me that they have been over 150 yrs in bussiness . I m a seafood lover, so me and my buddy went and tried out. The seafood are fresh, and their seafood soup is excellent. I went twice in my trip, and we booth feel no regrets for every visit.
Great old school place – Love old places like the Tadich. Ate at the bar late in the afternoon of my only rainy day in SF. Nice server, good bread, sand dabs were delicious and also liked the sides of bok choy and potato. An expensive lunch at about $18 but worth it. Probably even better with a couple glasses of wine to soak in the atmosphere.
Great seafood, service and sour dough bread. – You may have to wait. The bar seating is a great place for one or two people. I have never had a bad experience in more than 10 years. The waiters can be surly and yet great. I had a waiter make his own special sauce for my calimari. The sour dough bread is the best in the City. My wife and I go here every time we are in the City.
Poor customer relations, and uncooked or overcooked meals – I came away wondering why I had wasted my time and money. To begin with I was forced to eat at the counter and find my own seat. I am disabled. I ordered an artichoke, fish soup and a glass of wine. I had to ask twice for the wine and water. A customer beside me actually asked for my bread when it didn't arrive before my meal. A customer on the other side had ordered a fried fish, and there was a pool of butter in the center of it when it arrived. The artichoke was ... read more
