In a city where most restaurants have a lifespan of less than five years, it is heartening, if not surprising, to find such an old-timer. Politicians and business people have been coming here forever, buying each other martinis and waiting to be seated (no reservations are accepted). The seafood is fresh and fabulous and the decor is turn-of-the-last-century. The waitstaff is great, and it's not surprising--some of them have been here more than 30 years!

Fresh seafood, history, a bit of brusque – Tadich Grill is my kind of place, as its waiters dress and act like New York waiters, serves fresh seafood, and has a history. The "twins" that aray26 heard remarked upon were surely not the breasts of a well-endowed woman but rather the famous Brown twins - Google them on Wikipedia - as we sat next to them last night, and my girlfriend now has a nice little snapshot of her flanked by these petite San Francisco celebritie lit by the glare of Tadich Grill lamps. We only had the Tadic... read more
Tadich Grill is a true San Francisco institution - and has been for 150 years. – Tadich Grill is a true San Francisco institution. It still looks, feels and tastes the same as when I first visited there in the 60s during college, 70s for business, and 80s just for great food. The restaurant reflects the unique fun and historic experience that is San Francisco, drawing heavily on its Gold Rush roots. It is an eccentric place, that much is true. But this 150-year-old, continuously open restaurant serves some of the best Seafoo... read more
Great place – I really enjoyed my stay there, the service was excellent and overall the atmoshphere and the food were great. Highly recommended
this is a great place for fish. i really like it a lot. the line out the door can put people off, but for me that only shows you what a special place this is. I really like it a lot. I will come back many many times.
Oldest Clip Joint in San Francisco: For Suckers only – Went in recently, been there a few times. Used to be damned good, but now it's all over. Foul food, served by doped up robots who know nothing about decent food or service and care less. Bring on the next earthquake and be sure you are dining elsewhere.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE Not for the hipster crowd, the Tadich Grill is an old-fashioned, back to basics, excellent restaurant.

Horrible, horrible place - Waiter was extremely creepy - learing and winking at my dinner companion. – Eat here if you like having a convict/frat boy wait on you. I came into the restaurant with high hopes and hearing great things about their crab cakes. My dinner companion was leered at throughout the meal by the waiter. At point, he even he winked at her. She, a professional MBA who manages a large team, became so uncomfortable during the dinner, she refused to make eye contact with him half-way through the meal. Throughou... read more
Open since 1849, today's diners can still eat like a gold prospector at this nostalgic San Francisco landmark. – The Scene The historic restaurant's ambience draws heavily on its Gold Rush roots, with glossy dark-wood paneling, bentwood chairs and enclosed booths, complete with a doorbell to ring the curmudgeonly waiters. An endless parade of solo diners perch on stools at the long counter. The Food Tadich's traditional seafood may not be the best in town, but shrewd diners can get a satisfying meal.
