See him every 3 months for a few years now . Usually have to wait in lobby a while before called in...then again wait in the exam room. He could be more PROMPT. He is not that familiar with my pain issues for someone who sees me every 3 months. Often he is running behind and I feel his time with me is rushed.
Dr. Symbas has been my orthopedist for longer than I care to remember. Among other things, he has replaced both my knees. In addition to being a very competent surgeon, he is absolutely one of the most caring human beings I know. He is warm and approachable and has a great sense of humor. He is experienced and knowledgeable. I can’t imagine having anyone else care for my ancient bones.
My wife had an appointment to see Dr. Symbas but was seen by a PA instead who could not answer a lot of her questions. Too bad because we made wanted to see Dr. Symbas himself. We wont be using OrthoAtlanta in the future.
Dr. Lee has a very bad rapport with his patience. His bedside manner is below par. There seems to be a language barrier. We've had several problems with Dr Lee and tried to talk to the office manager about it. She will not address any problems in that office.
Today, I underwent my second ACL/ meniscus surgery with Dr. Johnston. It was the same surgery I had 5 years ago but on my other knee. Being a repeat patient speaks volumes in of itself. Dr. Johnston has excellent bedside manner but more importantly he is attentive, extremely thorough and an expert in his field. While I was fortunate to grow up in a family of skilled athletes we were all cursed with terrible knees and joints. I have years of experience with the best to the worst orthos; if you are looking for the best look no... read more
I must have seen Dr. Symbas on a bad day. He was referred to me by my internist. He was not helpful at all to me. He told me I most likely had a labral tear and literally told me to Google it. He was rushed, he never looked at my paperwork as it still sat on the chair in the room with us. I won't go back to him.
In 2013 I suffered a spiral break to my right ankle and fibula. Dr Richard Johnston performed surgery and sutured the incision with staples. Although his practice advises patients of the use of nurse practitioners, it was an untrained, non-certified “office administrator” who removed the staples. It was the most painful experience of my life...and of the following 6 surgeries over the next 5 years, including a cervical fusion. Although, undiagnosed at the time, I developed RSD in my right ankle immediately after my fall. RSD... read more
He doesn't listen at all, seems like he's just trying to rush through. He acts like he doesn't remember anything about my history that he has done for me in the past. No real sense of urgency to come up with solutions. Been going there a year and a half and I've yet to get any pain relief. Has found several very rare problems and is still writing me off. If you want answers avoid him, he may be able to do injections, testing, and medications, but as a doctor he could care less about your pain or your injury.
One of the very best doctors you could find. Dr. Johnston is very precise, and does everything to perfection. He has performed surgery on my shoulder, and both knees so far, and I could not have asked for better results. Highly recommend him.
