Good but not worth the premium – The food was good but for the money, you can get alot more someplace else. We went there for lunch and with soft drinks, sushi and tip it cost each of us $30!!! On the bright side, the atmosphere is very chic and the waitresses were beautiful but it still doesn't make up for the value.
Fantastic – Having tried serveral of the Sushi places in town, I think I found a winner. Great rolls, loved the Dragon Scales!, The chefs and the service was excellent. Put me on you frequent dinners list. Thank you for a great night!.
Very good – My first trip to the Happy Sumo, my first time eating sushi, and it was great, the Playboy was fantastic, as was the Nitro roll. The service was excellent and I will be back again and again. Thank you!
Great Sushi in S.L.? – The answer would be YES, It was quite a treat to be in Salt Lake and get great Sushi and have wonderful service. I will be back!
AWESOME – This is one of the best places I've eaten at in SLC. The food was incredible - a great selection of inventive and traditional stuff. The lettuce wraps appetizer was outstanding. Amazing desserts. Great service and a cool atmosphere. It felt trendy but not overdone. A bonus: they pay for parking!
Happy Sumo..Unhappy Customer – Okay, let's start with the good. The interior of HS is really quite nice, modern, and contemporary but ambience is only a fraction of the whole dining experience. We were seated fairly promptly by the cute waitress but the wait for our food was another story...and it was an epic one at that. I'll be back! – The food was good and the service was great. Menu had original creations and that is often the best way to go. Not a place to be romantic, but a great place to go when you are in the mood for a good time.
Hot Waitresses isn't enough – I've been here before and been relatively happy with previous experiences. But this time was terrible. Even though it was Sunday and there was NO other patrons ahead of us, we waited 15 minutes to be seated in the empty restaurant. We told the waitress as soon as we sat down that we were ready to order, but she took another 10 minutes to come back and actually take it. Not Just a Sushi Bar – Although sushi is the most sought after item in their restaurant, they do have other items on the menu for those whom aren't comfortable eating raw fish. My personal favorite is the Teriyaki Tori, which consists of bite-sized pieces of chicken with veggies and rice covered with teriyaki sauce. Yum!
