Enjoy a little piece of Pan-Fried history when you dine at Stroud's! The year was 1933. Prohibition had just been repealed, we were between two World Wars and Stroud's Restaurant was built. Stroud's started as a BBQ restaurant by Guy and Helen Stroud on the county line at 85th and Troost. The road house remained a BBQ restaurant until World War II. If Stroud's gets any more recommendations, I'll never get a table. Never had a bad meal there. The livers are to die for. PS, No reservations is hard on the disabled.
My son Clinton wanted to share your wonderful food with myself and his 87 yearold Grandpa. We live in Knob Noster, MO but my Dad had an appt in Shawnee Mission so we met my son there today. To say the food was amazing doesn't do it justice! My Dad loved the gizzards but my favorites were the green beans and cinnamon rolls! Thank you for giving us an awesome memory!
A timeless classic, the BEST fried chicken in Kansas City. From the salads to the entrees. Busy Friday night, got right in, food was hot and tasted perfect. While the chicken is the star, the sides which consisted of mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, french fries and cinnamon rolls are all fantastic. Our server Colleen, was spectacular. Our drinks never went empty and her demeanor was outstanding. My first time at this location, and I will most definitely return!!!

Wanted to give it -10 stars but wouldn't let me do less than 1. My family went Saturday night for the first time. Had heard great things about it, always wanted to try it. After we were seated, we waited 15 minutes and still hadn't had as much as our drink orders taken. To say that it was the WORST SERVICE EVER is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! There was NO SERVICE!!!! We couldn't even make eye contact with the servers. Unfriendliest staff ever!! We left, still starving and very angry. It might be good chicken, but we'll never know!!
Love the fried chicken. Our family has eaten there many years, mostly North. Delicious home-cooked food.
My husband and I went to this location today. Our server was very polite and it did have a home feel to it. I'm originally from New Orleans and my husband from Dallas. I have to say the fried chicken was not what I was thinking it would be. It's very bland, not flavorful. In fact I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to everything. Without a doubt and hands down..this is the best Restaurant in the KC area. The consistency of the food and the attentive service makes a great combination! Besides, you feel at home here. If you only have time for one meal while you are in KC ..you need a Stroud 's.. not BBQ
