We had our Thanksgiving lunch at Starved Rock Lodge. It was a first. I had heard so much about it. Almost half the items are breakfast including make to order omelets and waffles with fruit, and include all the T-Day requirements like green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. This place took my breath away! Extremely beautiful � � I love the cabin so much! I would like to go back again & very soon! Brettanie was extremely sweet at the coffee shop, she made my morning! The nature is fantastic over there! GOD'S ENDLESS UNIVERS!
Went to see a band in the bar, which is too small for larger bands. We ordered dinner, which took several minutes to get (that was okay since it was busy). Then we sat several minutes trying to get silverware so that we could eat our dinner, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. We finally flagged down a manager. Pot roast was fine, veggies were just okay, & the mashed potatoes were cold & lumpy by the time we got our silverware. My husband and I ( both in our 80s ) visited the state park as we do several times a year and had a horrible experience. We wanted to have lunch in the restaurant in the lodge and did not have a prior reservation. As we arrived, we are rudely told we could not get a table without a reservation. We could clearly see there at least half the restaurant had open tables. We were turned away and very disappointed as we were hungry and planned on having a full lunch and drinks there.
