This brew pub with a dimly lit interior, dark wood tables, and antique-style collectables hanging on the walls makes for a cozy atmosphere. But if you're looking for a bottle of one of those well-known beers, you'll have to go elsewhere. Standard Tap only serves local microbrews on draft such as the Slyfox Pikeland Pils or the Victory Hope Devil either of which goes perfectly with the Standard Tap Burger. Weekend brunch is popular with entrees such as the ham & cheddar omelet or French Toast with raspberry puree. The first S... read more

All the beers taste like Miller?!?! – Wow - that was a harsh review. I've been going to the "Tap" for years and have never had a bad experience there - suit or no suit. We've even taken my parents there (in their 70's), and while the jukebox can be loud on a Saturday night, service, staff and food have always been excellent. Food (yes - the menus are on blackboards) consists of bar standards, as well as some more adventerous items (venison, whole fish, buffalo etc.). The menu is fairly evenly divided between sandwiches, entr... read more
User review by sallypotter – upstairs bar is best however, stay away from the upstairs dining area ... one of waitresses was rude as hell. excellent food and beer - classic.
Great food and ambience – The "Tap" is a great Philadelphia and neigbourhood treasure. The place doesn't take reservations, so just walk on in, find a place to sit and park yourself. The kitchen serves until 1 AM, so there's always something good on the menu. About 1/3 of the menu changes daily with the "constants" that always seem to please like Chicken Pie, Beet Salad, Double or Regular Standard Burgers along with some type of meat and seafood/shellfish. Service is friendly and unhurried, so relax and unwind. There is an u... read more
After careful research (and having been in the restaurant business for many years), my friends and I agree that Standard Tap has the best cheeseburger in town, hands down. The service could use a little work, and the beer list is a bit limited, but it's worth the hassle for the top burger in the city. The brunch also is the best around, and I encourage everyone in Phila to check this place out to test our findings. Enjoy!
Top Notch!! – I have to disagree about professionals...I've been in there in a suit and had no problem. It might be removing the chip off your shoulder. This place has consistently friendly service, top notch bar food, excellent local beers on tap, and great spaces inside. You can't beat their brunch, their desserts or the deck on a sunny day. One of my favorite places to hang out, and I'm a professional and have never even *had* a Swanson dinner.
Good Food, Beer, & Jukebox – What's more to say? ST prides itself on its food and offerings of many local brews on tap. I have never been disappointed. But, I go also for to listen to the best jukebox in the city. The mix is always eclectic without trying to be hip. The decor is nice also with beautiful tip ceilings and is rather spacious. It's a great destination with a local feel. In addition, the patrons are always friendly as is the staff. The only complains that I have are rather minor. It is hard to hear the jukebox wh... read more
Wonderful Food – I must say that the Tap goes far beyond the Hamburger in what is rated as one of the best. There is venison, rabbit, pork sandwich, chicken pot pie, some of the best seafood, duck confit, wonderful beet salad, homemade potato chips, great fries. Carolynn is one of the top young chefs in the city and she uses the best and freshest ingredients she can find in every season. She uses local growers and thereby supports them for their hard work and the care that goes into everything they do. So go and have fun - i... read more
One of Philly's best... – Everytime I come into Philly to meet up with friends we always seem to start or end up at Standard Tap. The food is delicious (best chicken pot pie on the planet), the crowd is great & the beers kick some pretty serious ass. If you haven't been here yet - go! The Northern Liberties area is great & you can walk to other super spots like the Abbaye, Liberties, North Third, 700 Club, etc.
I'm impressed! – We ended up at Standard Tap last night by default. We actually went to No. Liberties to try Pigalle, but they were closed due to renovations and this gem was right up the street. We sat outside on the rooftop deck and dove into the food. Wow! Great and reasonable. My husband and I had the mussels (the best EVER!), the cheese plate (great!), he had a very tender lamb sandwich and I had the whole black sea bass - the fish was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. Can't wait to return!
