The S.S. Badger is the largest car ferry to ever sail Lake Michigan and has provided a safe, fun, and reliable shortcut across the inland sea for more than fifty years. The ferry takes passengers, autos, RVs, tour buses, motorcycles, bicycles, and commercial trucks across Lake Michigan between Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin from mid-May through mid-October.

A big mistake by not taking the Badger when returning from out west. Avoiding Chicago and traveling the Badger is a no brainer. The Badger is safe, quiet, clean, great food and best of all I don't have to fear for my life. The insanity of having to travel through chicago is just the opposite. Dirty, unsafe, nerve wracking, ugly. Good news is I made it through Chicago in one piece and will definitely travel the Badger in the future.

A very enjoyable trip. The ship looks great and has a lot of information posted to educate passengers. Plenty of room to lounge or roam about.

I have driven, flown, and sailed to Wisconsin for the past 18 years on the SS Badger, and will continue to do so for as long as I can. I've enjoyed all the ship has to offer-movies, museum, "boat-ique", staterooms if I need to nap, sunshine on the decks, cafeteria and lots of snacks, as well as games, ala bingo and family feud. There's much you can do, or choose your own niche and read. It relieves me of wear and tear on myself as well as my car, and the crew is exemplary. No better way to head west from lower Michigan. We try to find an excuse every year to sail on the Badger.
